Lutheran Marriage Encounter has some new and exciting Western PA weekend locations for 2009 -- please check them out, and make plans to attend a Marriage Encounter Weekend this year! These special and beautiful weekends run from Friday evening at 8 p.m. to Sunday afternoon at 5 p.m. and are designed to enrich ALL MARRIAGES. The fall weekends are: September 18-20 at the Sequanota Retreat Center in Jennerstown, PA, and October 16-18 at the Radisson Hotel in Sharon, PA -- just an hour north of Pittsburgh. All costs including housing, meals, and supplies are covered by a $45.00 per couple registration fee plus a confidential contribution you are given the opportunity to make at the end of the weekend. Becoming One...
Before you say "I do..." If you are contemplating marriage even if you are not officially engaged or have your wedding date set, you are welcome to attend the upcoming Becoming One Seminar (Pre-Cana). The day is for couples contemplating marriage or couples married less than one year. It is a quiet day designed to give couples a chance to concentrate on one another, to explore strengths and weaknesses, ambitions and goals and to improve communication.

"Church Basement Ladies" Trip...
The CAAC has a trip planned for September 27 to see the new Lutheran Musical Comedy "Church Basement Ladies" Featuring M*A*S*H star William Christopher. The cost is $50.00; $45.00 for CAAC members. This cost includes the bus trip, snacks on the bus, and a theatre ticket. The bus will leave Jeannette at 4:30 p.m. The show begins at 6:00 p.m.

We only have 40 tickets available so sign up as soon as possible. The seats are on the main floor or the first section of the balcony. Seats are excellent.

Jeannette Community Days Funnel Cakes...
Once again the CAAC will be sponsoring a funnel cake stand at the Jeannette Community Days festival. The dates are Thursday, July 23rd, Friday, July 24th and Saturday, July 25th, to be held at the lower end of Magee Ave parking lots.

Military Family Support Group...
The Military Family Support Group welcomes all people who have loved ones currently serving in the Armed Forces of the United States. We especially work together to provide a friendly gathering place where people can find support and encouragement when they have loved ones who are (or will be) deployed overseas.

We are very pleased to welcome the husbands, wives, parents, grandparents, siblings, other family members and friends of anyone who is serving in any branch of the United States military.

Our mission is to:

• Provide a monthly time of support and fellowship for the families and friends of those who face the challenge of having a loved one deployed overseas,
  
• Provide information about helpful resources that are available to assist families and friends during times of deployment,
  
• Provide support and encouragement to our loved-ones who are serving abroad,
  
• Provide an opportunity for members of the group to extend love and support to members of our military who have been wounded in action.

Senior Bible Study...
The Senior Bible Study will be meeting every Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. We look forward to you joining us during this uplifting experience and time of fellowship with one another.

Tisket, A Tasket, It's Time for Those Baskets...
Just a reminder for one and all to think about those baskets for the August 15, 2009 annual church picnic. We are looking for you to use your imaginations. Stretch them as far as you can.

Remember that first you need a basket or two. Yard sales and Flea markets are in full swing. So look for a basket and think of what you would want to put in it. Maybe something you would like to win back or something unusual just for fun. Because that is just what it is to creating a basket for our annual basket bash is all about FUN!!! FUN!!! AND MORE FUN!!!

Now here are just a few suggestions: a fishing basket, a pet basket (what kind of pet is your choice), a snack basket, a make a sundae basket, personal care basket, gardening basket, back to school basket, a spiritual reading basket, a romantic dinner basket, a sport basket (your favorite team), a good movie and snack basket, a tool basket (one for her and one for him), a picnic basket (with appropriate goodies), a car care basket, a cheese and wine basket, a bird watching basket, a craft basket, a baby or small child's basket.

As you can see that there are a million ideas out there. And remember that you do not need to break the bank. There are many dollar stores around the area and they have many good quality products to fill those baskets. So have fun and make a basket.

If at all possible, please bring your basket to the picnic with you. If you are not able, drop them off at the church and place them in the Altar Guild kitchen by August 8, 2009.

Now, go out and have fun.....
